A LANDMARK SCHEME TAKES
SHAPE IN NEWCASTLE
O
ne of the North East’s most significant
residential developments is moving firmly into its
next phase, with three leading housebuilders confirmed
to deliver a major new community on the edge of
Newcastle.
Kingston Village, a 49 hectare site to the north west of
the city, will bring forward more than 800 new homes,
including around 120 affordable properties. Backed by
Banks Property and supported by property consultants
and land agents youngsRPS, the scheme represents a
major investment in both housing delivery and long
term regional growth.
Outline planning consent was secured last year,
marking a key milestone for a site that has long been
identified for development within the Newcastle and
Gateshead Core Strategy. Since then, focus has turned
to delivery, with Miller Homes, Stonebridge Homes and
Banks Homes now confirmed as the developers who
will bring the scheme to life.
More than just a housing development, Kingston Village
has been designed as a new, integrated community.
Plans include a primary school, local retail provision, a
café, allotments, a village green and extensive areas of
public open space. A network of footpaths and cycle
routes will connect the site to surrounding
neighbourhoods, including Newcastle Great Park, while
investment in transport infrastructure and road
improvements will support accessibility.
Environmental considerations are also central to the
scheme. A ten per cent Biodiversity Net Gain will be
delivered, alongside enhancements to local habitats,
reflecting the increasing importance of sustainability
within large scale development.
